The End Of A Tyranid :Progress made from my Dreadnought diorama

Forged in Fire: Adding Battle Damage to My Space Marine Dreadnought

Battle damage is one of my favorite ways to bring a model to life. It doesn’t just make the miniature look more realistic—it makes it feel like part of the grim, endless war of the 41st millennium. If you’ve got a Dreadnought or any armored unit sitting in your pile of shame, I recommend giving it a few scars. After all, a warrior of the Emperor never looks better than when covered in the marks of hard-fought victories.

Before picking up a brush, I considered the Dreadnought’s role on the battlefield. Which parts would be most exposed to enemy fire? The edges of its armor plates, the lower legs—prone to debris and shrapnel—and the areas surrounding its weapon mounts. Approaching the damage with this battlefield logic makes it feel deliberate and purposeful, rather than arbitrary.

  CATHACAN COLONEL

Bringing the Cathacan Colonel miniature to life is a rewarding yet intricate process that demands unwavering attention to detail. Every brushstroke is thoughtfully applied with precision, ensuring the figure reflects the grandeur it deserves. The journey involves mastering the slap-chop technique, beginning with a black base coat and layering a white dry brush to highlight its intricate features. This remarkable miniature is a proud addition to the legendary Warhammer Fantasy collection.

Arkanaut Admiral

A distinguished leader of the Kharadron airfleets, this Duardin Admiral commands respect through both skill and example. Armed with an aether-powered skalfhammer and a finely crafted volley pistol, he dives fearlessly into battle. His heavy, hermetically sealed armor is a marvel of engineering, adorned with intricate pipes, valves, and mechanisms that power his weaponry and enhance his combat prowess. Adding to his imposing presence are the ornate decorations on his armor, each a testament to his many years of successful and profitable service. A beautiful figure with a lot of details!!

    Tutorial: Reimagining Materials

      • Pipe → Drinking Straw
The pipe is a drinking straw. Straws are lightweight, flexible, easy to cut, and can be bent to fit your needs perfectly, making them an excellent substitute.

Colors: Undercoat with Golgfag brown,  drybrush with Hashut Copper, and Necron Compound at the edge of the pipe.
      • Road → Cork
Construct the road using cork. Its soft, textured surface is not only easy to shape but also adds a natural, earthy aesthetic to your project.

Colors: Undercoat with Abaddon Black, drybrush with Dawnstone, and Corax White.
      • Water → UV Resin
Use UV resin as water. It creates a glossy, crystal-clear finish that reflects light.

Colors:  Drybrush the base with Tesseract Glow.Mix a few drops into the resin using Tesseract Glow for a captivating effect.
